American Wire and Cable Company is a family owned business whose owners have supplied lead wire for the appliance industry since 1957. The original factory operated out of a plant built on Cleveland's near west side. This facility currently houses the wire mill performing the rod breakdown, drawing, and bunching of copper, to make the various gauge conductors. In 1965, the extrusion equipment was moved to a new facility in Olmsted Falls Ohio, where it resides today. In 1978 the extrusion plant installed the first CV production line and added XLPE and Silicone Rubber manufacturing capabilities. With much of the customer base moving south in the early 1980's, a second extrusion plant was opened just outside of Nashville TN in 1986. Than in 1994 the main offices moved from the Cleveland facility to Olmsted Falls. This move consolidated sales and production personnel so they could more closely coordinate with customer needs. In all there have been 9 facilities and additions built as the company has grown through the years.
Today, through a continuation of solid growth, American Wire and Cable manufacturing plants and warehouses supply customers throughout North America as well as South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Lead times are continuously maintained under two weeks with JIT, Stocking and Warehouse programs available. Flexible Production and Open Scheduling methods allow for more immediate response when customers must have product. Quality programs are extensive and cover all aspects of the company from sales to shipping. They are continually reviewed and adjusted to surpass the requirements of every customer. Most importantly, each customer is treated with the utmost care and attention at all times. It is through a true dedication to customers that American Wire and Cable thus offers the best value in the industry.
